I woke up the next morning, the old woman on my mind. What was she saying, what knowledge did she find
That gave her the courage to go and take a stand… to present to hundreds of people a suggestion so bland;
So ancient, so deprived, it would fall away like sand
Between the fingers of any one who even tried to understand her.
She didn’t know that things had changed; she had to be blind to the progression of the women everywhere, her views needed to be refined.
And so I made a decision that wasn’t even hard. I knew what I would say to her, I practiced through the yard. The proposition was simple, once she heard me she’d be jarred. It made me happy to think that her freedom was my reward.
I’m glad the conference continued for three days, it gave me time to ponder the disgrace of a life the old woman lived. I really hoped that I could raise her standards of expectation and change her debilitating ways
I entered the stadium and found my way to a seat. The usher wasn’t a problem, entrance was an easy thing to beat. And so I got the chance to stay, it was an amazing feat, because it was only for today that there was someone she wanted us to meet.
She took some time to introduce us to her guest and began to lay out her plan; how she put this man on a quest to find 10 women he liked and rate them by who he liked the best. He would choose the top three to date but he was not to acquiesce.
She told the man to enter into a relationship with as many women as he could
He wasn’t to pursue any of them, he was to be as still as wood.
The women would pursue him and he would give in as he should
The only time he was to get involved was if his intentions were misunderstood.
He was to keep each relationship going for as long as he possibly could
And through this experiment he was to answer the question "was love any good?".
I peaked up at the stage, curious to see the man
What a wicked proposition from this woman, I was right not to be a fan
This type of experimenting shouldn't be allowed, I thought it would have been banned.
And who was this man that would go out into the world. Starting up what he wouldn't finish, just "giving things a whirl"?
How wrong and unfair. What a monster he must be. No sane and healthy person to this sick proposition would agree.
She introduced his name, for this part I couldn't wait. And then he stepped out on to the stage and my only explanation was that this was fate.
The man was beautiful, 6 feet 2 inches.
He had dark curly hair that began in a fade and ended in a curly glossy mess at the top.
It gave him a goofy look, but everything else about the way he carried himself proved him to be a serious man.
He made a lot of money and worked for a lot of money.
He was charming and kind with a smile that disarmed you.
He was perfect and the old woman introduced him as Riley Armstrong.
